Notes

The Commute was commissioned by Tara Winds Clarinet Choir. The choir and the composer are both based in Atlanta, Georgia which is notorious for its terrible traffic. The traffic hour is more 3-4 hours in the the morning and the evening. A minor fender bender can bring traffic to a hault and destroy a commute. It makes getting around Atlanta an epic feat of strength, patience, and determination. This piece depicts the frustration in traveling in a city where sustaining any kind of travel speed is impossible.
