Uncharted Territory

Uncharted Territory was commissioned by Angela Jones-Reus and the University of Georgia Flute Studio and premiered at the 2025 National Flute Association Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

Uncharted Territory is a musical exploration of the vast and unpredictable expanse of the unknown, an odyssey that probes both the peril and the potential of venturing into realms previously unexplored. The work is divided into three distinct movements, each capturing a different facet of this journey: the initial struggle, the hopeful guidance that emerges, and the triumph of forging a path forward. At its heart, Uncharted Territory is a metaphor for the challenges we face in life, both as individuals and as communities, and the transformative power of unity and perseverance. Only together can we overcome the unknown and achieve success.
